A NEW INTERFACE-CENTERED SCIENTIFIC FRAMEWORK
A New Interface-Centered Scientific Framework
Rhinophthalmology is a proposed interface-centered field concerned with the anatomical, physiological, neural, immune, secretory, mechanical, environmental and pathological relationships linking the nasal system with the lacrimal apparatus, tear film, ocular surface, eyelids and functional vision.
THE NOSE AND THE EYE ARE NOT ISOLATED SYSTEMS.
THE QUESTION IS WHAT HAPPENS BETWEEN THEM.

ORIGINS & INTELLECTUAL LINEAGE
From Alexandria to Rhinophthalmology
More than two millennia ago, the Alexandrian medical tradition transformed medicine through anatomical inquiry and the study of relationships between neighboring structures.
Rhinophthalmology continues that intellectual movement in a modern form — extending the question from anatomical continuity to physiological and biological integration.
From Alexandrian Anatomy to Interface Biology.
THE RHINOPHTHALMIC INTERFACE
The Rhinophthalmic Interface
The Rhinophthalmic Interface is a distributed biological interface connecting nasal, neural, lacrimal, ocular-surface and environmental physiology.

SCIENTIFIC POSITIONING
Established Biology. New Integration.
Rhinophthalmology begins with established biology — and asks whether these established connections can be understood as components of a larger functional interface.

AXIS 02
The Breath–Vision Axis
Could respiratory pattern, nasal sensory input and airflow-related microenvironmental conditions influence tear-film homeostasis and functional visual quality?
FIGURE 6 — The Breath–Vision Axis — replace this Image widget with the final scientific Figure.
The Breath–Vision Axis is a proposed integrative framework describing pathways through which respiratory pattern, nasal sensory input and airflow-related microenvironmental conditions may influence tear-film homeostasis and, consequently, functional visual quality.
FROM HOMEOSTASIS TO DISEASE
Could dysfunction begin at the interface?
The Biological Interface Principle raises a testable possibility: in selected conditions, dysfunction of the relationships connecting biological systems may precede or contribute to conventionally recognizable organ disease.
